I would like to find the burial place in Lamar County for James Isaiah Forbess or Forbish and his wife Elizabeth.  Isaiah was born March 2, 1814 and died August 31, 1862.  Elizabeth was born July 23, 1813 and died November 30, 1866.

Hello, Shirley.

Many of the area’s historical and genealogical societies have some cemetery records. You might contact some of them about obtaining copies, or going through them in person if you’re in the area. There are links to those organizations on this site’s front page.

The A.M. Aikin Archives houses a few such records, but I can’t recall the details. Perhaps Archivist Daisy Harvill will chime in later with some additional information.

I know of no such records for Lamar County that are online, though. (If anyone knows of such, let me know, and we’ll post a link.)

Hello Shirley, the Northeast Texas Genealogical Society has a database of Lamar County burials. I suggest you contact the Society at 903-784-5020 and ask someone to look up those names for you. I do not have a copy of these records.
