Using Our Web Site

Posted 07.10.06 at 9:26 AM

Calling all regional historians and genealogists, we want to hear from you! This Web site is very easy to use. If you will register, then you can post comments on the journal entries. In the Round Table Forum, you may post articles or comments on any historical topic from your area, and other viewers may respond to them. This forum is for everyone, not just residents of our surrounding counties. Regardless of your state or county, your comments and articles are welcome and will be interesting to read.

Under the Literature Forum, please post comments on authors, whether local or not, whose writing depicts this general region: writing you have done yourself, authors you have met, good books on the area that you have read and which you recommend to the rest of us.

In the Research Forum, tell us about your projects. Viewers may be able to help. They may have suggestions to aid your search. They may even be willing to share valuable materials.

The Forums under “History” include neighboring counties, as well as “general topics” (other counties, other states). Post stories, ideas, requests for information, announcements (what’s going on in your area). Under Genealogy Forums, post your inquiries. Under “General Topics,” you may refer to any county. My ancestors landed in Montague and Cooke Counties, so I’m interested in information from those areas. Montague County has a history of Indian fighting in which some of my pioneer ancestors participated.

“Forum Use: Hints, Tips, and Questions” will give you ideas on how to use these outlets for your own creativity and research interests. We are trying to make this a user-friendly site for those who are interested in genealogy and in local and state history, and we plan to add other local bloggers, as well as bloggers from neighboring counties.

Get the word out. Our viewing numbers are growing, and we hope to see a lot more of you logging on and posting your comments for all to read and enjoy. Don’t forget: This Web site is also a place to post announcements of what’s going on in your communities that is of historical interest.
